BAHA FAQs
How can I play hockey?

Beginning fall of 2008, all hockey registration will be online through the BAHA webpage: www.bozemanhockey.org. Youth programs include Mite through High School levels and adult league includes Novice, Rec and Power leagues as well as a Women’s team. For more details about our youth and adult hockey programs, please click on either of these tabs in the sidebar on the webpage.

What pads do I need to play hockey?

Most players wear all the protective gear in our programs: helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, shin guards and gloves. However, players are only required to wear a helmet at all times while playing hockey.

How do I get on an adult team if I am new to the program?

When you sign up for adult league please indicate that you are new to the league and you will be placed on a team that needs players.

Is there women’s hockey program?

The women’s team has practice/ scrimmage from 4:30-5:50pm every Sunday and encourages all skill levels. The team also hosts and travels to tournaments throughout the season.

What is USA Hockey and why do I need to be a member?

USA Hockey is the governing body of hockey in the US. BAHA hockey programs which are sanctioned by USA Hockey (all youth teams and adult league) require that all participants are registered members for insurance purposes.

Is there any pickup hockey?

Pickup hockey is occasionally scheduled in otherwise unused ice slots (see calendar on our webpage for specific ice times).

Can I play puck lunch if I’m not a BAHA member?

Puck lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays are open to the public. Please sign in on the clipboard hanging in the main West entrance, put $6 in a provided envelope and place your name on it before depositing in the yellow metal post. Tues./Thurs. season passes are also available from the Rink Manager.

Is there a girls hockey program?

Yes, Bozeman Amateur Hockey Association does have a girl’s hockey team.It is a middle school/high school team, designed for girls aging out of the youth Squirt level, that want to continue playing competitive hockey. The team currently practices T and TH nights at 5:30 and the cost is $35 for a USA Hockey membership and $325 for practice fees. The team travels to tournaments one time a month throughout Montana and Idaho. There is an additional fee to attend tournaments. This team competes in the Northern Rocky Mountain Girls Hockey League. Does BAHA have a youth house league?

Due to low participation, BAHA does not have a youth house league at this time. If you are interested in helping develop such a league, please contact the Youth Director through our webpage.

Where can I buy hockey gear?

Army Navy sells hockey gear, provides skate sharpening, and has skate rentals at 137 E. Main Street: 522-4050.

Play It Again Sports buys and sells new and used hockey gear and sharpens skates in the Bridger Peaks Town Center at 19th Avenue and Oak Street: 587-7427.

Second Wind Sports sells and consigns used hockey gear at 15 W. Olive Street: 586-7441.

Summit Bike and Ski sells hockey gear and sharpens skates at 26 S. Grand Avenue: 587-1064.

Top Shelf Hockey sells hockey gear and sharpens skates. It is located just off the Frontage Rd. east of Bozeman at 25B Shawnee Way, past Subaru and behind Culligan: 585-1417.



Can I rent ice for a private party?

Ice is available to rent when it is not being used for any of our other skating programs at a rate of $135 per hour (including a 10 minute ice resurface). The warm room is available with rental which includes tables and chairs. Please contact the Rink Manager through our webpage for ice availability.

How do I become a hockey referee?

Information about becoming a referee is available on the USA Hockey webpage: www.usahockey.com. Follow the “Officials” link.

How can I volunteer?

Contact the Rink Manager through our webpage to find a job appropriate for your skills.

How do I get a business banner?

How do I file an injury claim with USA Hockey?

On the USA Hockey webpage www.usahockey.com follow the links “About USAH” and “Insurance Risk Management.” Many answers are under “FAQ” or you may need to contact the Northern Plains District Risk Manager who can be found in the “Risk Manager Directory.” When will BAHA have a second rink?
