BAHA Youth Hockey Programs-

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I play hockey?

Beginning fall of 2008, all hockey registration will be available online from our website. Registration is Sept. 3rd-17th and a $40 late fee will be applied after that date. Youth programs include Mite through High School levels. Dates for 2008 leagues are tentatively scheduled for Oct. 13th- March 22nd . For more details about our youth hockey programs please click on the Youth Hockey link.

What pads do I need to play hockey?

Youth players must wear all the protective gear in our programs: helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, shin guards, gloves and protective cup. PeeWee and above players must also use a mouth guard. Although optional, all players are also encouraged to consider wearing neck guards.

Is there a girls hockey program?

Yes, Bozeman Amateur Hockey Association does have a girl’s hockey team.  It is a middle school/high school team, designed for girls aging out of the youth Squirt level, that want to continue playing competitive hockey.  The team currently practices Tuesday and Thursday nights at 5:30 and the cost is $35 for a USA Hockey membership and $325 for practice fees.  The team travels to tournaments one time a month throughout Montana and Idaho.  There is an additional fee to attend tournaments. This team competes in the Northern Rocky Mountain Girls Hockey League.  Contacts: Linda Warner (406) 579-7792 or Stephanie Gray (406)586-3380.

Does BAHA have a youth house league?

Due to low participation, BAHA does not have a youth house league at this time. If you are interested in helping develop such a league, please contact the Youth Director.

What is USA Hockey and why do I need to be a member?

USA Hockey is the governing body of hockey in the US. BAHA hockey programs which are sanctioned by USA Hockey (all youth teams and adult league) require that all participants are registered members for insurance purposes.

Is there any pickup hockey?

Youth pickup hockey is occasionally scheduled in unused ice slots (see calendar on our webpage for specific ice times).

Where can I buy hockey gear?

The warm room is available with rental which includes tables and chairs. Please contact the Rink Manager through our webpage for ice availability.

How do I become a hockey referee?

How can I volunteer?

How do I get a business banner?

Contact the Gallatin Ice Foundation.

How do I file an injury claim with USA Hockey?

On the USA Hockey website follow the links “About USAH” and “Insurance Risk Management.” Many answers are under “FAQ” or you may need to contact the Northern Plains District Risk Manager who can be found in the “Risk Manager Directory.”

When will BAHA have a second rink?

The Gallatin Ice Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to fundraising for an enclosed year-round rink adjoining the Haynes Pavilion. For more information about how to make a donation or their progress, follow the GIF link above for more information.

What are my Club responsibilities?

Each family and team is responsible for working at least one Icedogs game per season.

Each family and team is responsible for fulfilling individual team game and tournament obligations.

Where can I find the practice schedule?

Visit the individual team pages for specific team information.

Why don’t the Mite and Termite teams have set schedules?

With the exception of the House League (if available), all Squirt and above BAHA teams are travel teams that participate in the MAHA Treasure State League and have schedules determined by MAHA prior to the season start. Since Termite and Mite teams do not participate in the TSL, MAHA is not involved in determining schedules. It is the responsibility of each Mite and Termite Team Manager to individually schedule games for their respective team.

Why are email addresses not listed on the youth webpages?

Due to the prevalence of automated email address harvesting by spam web-crawlers, email addresses on the BAHA website Youth pages are linked to Members’ names, rather than displayed. Simply click on a linked name or title (i.e. Youth Website Coordinator) to send email to a Member. This policy helps to reduce the amount of spam sent to Members.
