What pads do I need to play hockey?

Youth players wear all the protective gear in our programs: helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, shin guards, gloves and protective cup.

Is there a girls hockey program?

BAHA does not have a specific girls program, but all youth teams welcome girls.

Does BAHA have a youth house league?

Due to low participation, BAHA does not have a youth house league at this time. If you are interested in helping develop such a league, please contact the Youth Director through our webpage.

What is USA Hockey and why do I need to be a member?

USA Hockey is the governing body of hockey in the US. BAHA hockey programs which are sanctioned by USA Hockey (all youth teams and adult league) require that all participants are registered members for insurance purposes.

Is there any pickup hockey?

Youth pickup hockey is occasionally scheduled in unused ice slots (see calendar on our webpage for specific ice times).

Youth FAQs '07-08

What are my Club responsibilities?

Each family and team is responsible for working at least one Icedogs game per season.

Each family and team is responsible for fulfilling individual team game and tournament obligations.

Where can I find the practice schedule?

Visit the individual team pages for specific team information.

Why don’t the Mite and Termite teams have set schedules?

With the exception of the House League, all Squirt and above BAHA teams are travel teams that participate in the MAHA Treasure State League and have schedules determined by MAHA prior to the season start. Since Termite and Mite teams do not participate in the TSL, MAHA is not involved in determining schedules. It is the responsibility of each Mite and Termite Team Manager to individually schedule games for their respective team.

Why are there no 'A' or 'B' Pee Wee or Squirt travel teams for the 2007-08 season?

MAHA requires a minimum of four teams in any given division of the Treasure State League. For 2007-08, only two Pee Wee and two Squirt teams registered to play in the respective TSL A divisions. BAHA registered one of the two in both Pee Wee and Squirt and offered to move one of the two Squirt B teams (Squirt 2) into the Squirt A division. However, with no other affiliates fielding A teams at either the Pee Wee or Squirt level and only two and three teams registered respectively, MAHA was forced to combine the A & B divisions into a single division at both levels.

All Pee Wee teams play in the same division as do all Squirt teams for the 2007-08 season. The divisions are simply called TSL Pee Wee and TSL Squirt (no 'A' or 'B'). There will still be two state tournaments for both Pee Wee and Squirt, however. At the conclusion of the season, the top six teams in each level will play in the respective 'A' State Tournament and the remaining teams will play in the 'B' State Tournament. The Pee Wee 'A' tournament will be held in Butte and the 'B' in Glasgow, while the Squirt 'A' tournament will be in Bozeman and the 'B' in Miles City.

The Pee Wee A1 team is playing in the Southwest Saskatchewan Hockey League for the 2007-08 season because of the lack of a MAHA Pee Wee A Treasure State League division.

Why are email addresses not listed on the youth webpages?

Due to the prevalence of automated email address harvesting by spam web-crawlers, email addresses on the BAHA website Youth pages are linked to Members’ names, rather than displayed. Simply click on a linked name or title (i.e. Youth Website Coordinator) to send email to a Member. This policy helps to reduce the amount of spam sent to Members.
