Team Managers
  • Please remind volunteers working the Icedogs games that they should arrive at least one hour prior to game time.
  • Please remind volunteers working officials positions (clock, score sheet, penalty box, goal judge) at team or Icedogs games that they are to be impartial/neutral. Vocal cheering or other displays of support for either team and/or talking with players in the penalty box is not permitted. Also, you must be at least eighteen to staff an officials position. Minors are not allowed to work as an official OR be in the penalty box or clock/score keeper area during the game. Additionally, no one under the age of 13 is allowed in the concessions room, per Health Department regulations. These are mandatory rules, no exceptions!
  • Make sure you check out a key (for the season) from Julie for the concessions room, in order to have concessions open for your home games. There is a red booklet inside the concession room that explains the operation of everything, including the money box (do not lock it!). If you have any questions, feel free to contact Sheryl Hallin (H 587-5233H, C 220-1282).
  • Please remind your coach and players that Treasure State League rules state that, any player that does not play in a minimum of 75% of a team's league games will NOT be eligible to participate in the respective team's state tournament. This means that any Squirt or older player that is a member of a BAHA travel team can only miss a maximum of 25% of that team's TSL games to remain eligible to play in that team's state tournament at the end of the season. Tournaments are not part of league play and therefore do not count toward the TSL standings, nor for or against a player's eligibility for the TSL State Tournament.
  • Please ensure that all players and parents are notified of all:
    • game and practice schedules
    • individual home game and tournament responsibilities
    • individual Icedogs games responsibilities
    • hotel accommodations for away games and tournaments
    • any other relevant information or changes.
  • Please email Gene with your team information to be posted on your team's webpage or Scott with any ideas or suggestions for the overall website. It is the responsibility of Team Managers to request that information be posted to team webpages and to provide it to Gene.
  • To submit your team game scores and stats for inclusion in the Community Sports section of the Wednesday Bozeman Daily Chronicle, email sports@dailychronicle.com, call 587-4491 (after hours: 582-2625), fax to 406-587-7995, or mail to Sports, Bozeman Daily Chronicle, P.O. Box 1190, 59771.

 Team Manager Responsibilities

Team Managers play a vital role in the success of individual teams and BAHA itself. The Team Manager is the team’s representative at Board Meetings and acts as a liaison between the Board, Youth Director and Youth Coordinator, and players, parents and coaches. The many responsibilities of team managers are:

  • meet with the Registrar to obtain a team roster from USA Hockey. Review the roster to make sure all the items are reported correctly, including player’s name, jersey number, address, telephone number, and parent’s names. Connect with the Treasurer to ensure all player’s fees have been paid in full or that a payment arrangement has been made.
  • organize a parent meeting at the beginning of the season to discuss the number of tournaments (and games for Mite and Termite teams) that the team would like to attend during the season. Compute an estimate of the cost to attend all tournaments the parents would like to attend and collect funds from parents. The funds should be retained by the Team Manager and distributed as needed with a full accounting provided to parents upon request.
  • help schedule games and tournaments. It is required that all coaches, and strongly encouraged that team managers, attend the MAHA scheduling meeting in October to assist in the scheduling process. All home games need to be scheduled as much in advance as possible to ensure referees are available. Scheduling home games with less than seven days notice will result in a late scheduling fee assessed by the Hockey Officials Association. The Youth Director will manage the ice schedule and assign priority.
  • arrange lodging for all away games and tournaments requiring an overnight stay.
  • schedule parent/team meetings as necessary and ensure that all parents understand the BAHA “Chain of Command”.
  • review the coach’s manual to ensure all information is included in the manual with respect to the players’ information.
  • report weekly game results to the club for printing in the newsletter.
  • administer the delegation of all player and team club responsibilities
    • assign individual duties to each family for home game and tournament obligations
      • clock
      • scorekeeper
      • penalty boxes
      • concessions
      • goal judges (PeeWee and above?)
      • after-game clean-up
    • schedule team slot to work a minimum of one Icedogs game and assign individual family duties for the game (minimum of nine volunteers)
      • ticket takers (at least 2)
      • penalty boxes
      • concessions (at least 3)
      • goal judges
      • after-game clean-up
  • delegate parents from the team to be present in the locker rooms with the players. The team is responsible for locker room conduct and cleaning. It is NOT the job of the coach.
  • compile a copy of the game sheets. MAHA/TSL (Squirt and up) games need to be turned in weekly and the coach and team manager each get a copy of every game sheet.
  • coaches and team managers each need a binder with copies of rosters, waivers of liabilities, medical consents and birth certificates. This ensures that if the Coach is unable to attend a game, these documents are available.
  • provide youth website coordinator with any information or updates to post on team webpage (they can only post information that they are made aware of). Information should be emailed in electronic format.
  • notify players and parents of games, schedule and any changes. Prepare an effective phone tree throughout the team (and/or email distribution list if agreed to by Coach and parents).
  • OPTIONAL: provide team game/tournament results to the Chronicle for publishing in the Wednesday Sports section in the Local Sports area.
