Team Managers play a vital role in the success of individual teams and BAHA itself. The Team Manager is the team’s representative at Board Meetings and acts as a liaison between the Board, Youth Director and Youth Coordinator, and players, parents and coaches. The many responsibilities of team managers are:
- The following information is required for the registrar to roster your team...
1. Head Coaches USA Hockey #
2. Assistant Coaches USA Hockey #
3. All Coaches, Assistant coaches and team managers are required to complete online coaches screening at USA Hockey by October 10, 2011.
4. All (NEW) youth players need to submit a sealed birth certificate. Those who have played during the 2010-2011 season should be all set.
5. All Coaches are also required to complete the online Concussion Proof
Certification which can be completed here.
6. Roster information
These Items NEED to be submitted 2 weeks prior to your first game. If you do not get this information into me with ample time I cannot guarantee that your roster will be verified by MAHA which will result in the game not being counted.
- Contact the Registrar at kimzaniboni@gmail.com to obtain/establish a team roster from USA Hockey. Review the roster to make sure all the items are reported correctly, including player’s name, jersey number, address, telephone number, and parent’s names.
- Organize a parent meeting at the beginning of the season to discuss the number of tournaments (and games for Mite and Termite teams) that the team would like to attend during the season. Compute an estimate of the cost to attend all tournaments the parents would like to attend and collect funds from parents. The funds should be retained by the Team Manager and distributed as needed with a full accounting provided to parents upon request.
- Help schedule games and tournaments. It is required that all coaches, and strongly encouraged that team managers, attend the MAHA scheduling meeting in October to assist in the scheduling process. All home games need to be scheduled as much in advance as possible to ensure referees are available. Scheduling home games with less than seven days notice will result in a late scheduling fee assessed by the Hockey Officials Association. The Youth Director will manage the ice schedule and assign priority.
- Arrange lodging for all away games and tournaments requiring an overnight stay.
- Schedule parent/team meetings as necessary and ensure that all parents understand the BAHA “Chain of Command”.
- Review the coach’s manual to ensure all information is included in the manual with respect to the players’ information.
- Report weekly game results to the club for printing in the newsletter.
- Administer the delegation of all player and team club responsibilities
- Assign individual duties to each family for home game and tournament obligations
- Clock
- Scorekeeper
- Penalty boxes
- Concessions
- Goal judges (PeeWee and above?)
- After-game clean-up
- Schedule team slot to work a minimum of two Icedogs game and assign individual family duties for the game (three volunteers per game) - Contact the Concessions coordinator at kimzaniboni@gmail.com for questions.
- Delegate parents from the team to be present in the locker rooms with the players. The team is responsible for locker room conduct and cleaning. It is NOT the job of the coach.
- Compile a copy of the game sheets. MAHA/TSL (Squirt and up) games need to be turned in weekly and the coach and team manager each get a copy of every game sheet.
- Coaches and team managers each need a binder with copies of rosters, waivers of liabilities, and medical consents. Team managers will need to request this information from players at thier first practice. This ensures that if the Coach is unable to attend a game, these documents are available.
* Please note: some documents may be turned into the registrar during
registration. Please contact the registrar (kimzaniboni@gmail.com) to obtain
such documents.
- Team managers and coaches are responsible for posting any information or updates on their team webpage.
